Happy Halloween

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween and enjoyed some trick or treating or fun Halloween festivities! We did!  It started out with my annual Witches Dinner at N'Tinis!  It was lots fun with my beautiful witches.

It was a beautiful weekend and Davis and I enjoyed some sunshine and cool weather by the lakefront on Friday afternoon.  I go back to work on Monday :(  so we enjoyed a special day together chililng on a blanket and playing.

Tonight, we sat outside and passed out candy to all of the trick or treaters!  Davis spent part of the day dressed up at the "Huggie Jean Diaper Baby".  Finn dressed up as this too.
Then Davis turned into the cutest little frog!  He was good, sat on his daddy's lap and dug into the candy bowl.  He even grabbed a bag of skittles!  I think he really wanted to eat them!  Ha!!!!

And Happy Birthday to Uncle Jade ... we hope you enjoyed your day.

5 Months Old

Wow, where does the time go?  Davis is 5 months old today! Chad and I are so in love with our little man and so amazed each and every day with what Davis does and the joy he brings to our lives.  AMAZING!!!!!!!!!  I've been on maternity leave and return to work next week.  I'm sad about going back but am blessed to have been able to  really enjoy that past five months being at home.  I know it will work out and we'll just get on a new routine!

I started this blog when Davis was 3 months old so I'm including birth, 1 and 2 month pics as well.  Davis has changed so much and is growing so fast.  He's got some fat thighs and big cheeks.  He still doesn't seem to have a neck yet!  Ha!  One day, it'll stretch out!  We think he's perfect!!!! :)

1 month

Chillin' and he still sleeps like this!!!!

(I need blog lessons on how to post these pics... I can't get them to go in the right place. Sorry, I'll try to fix it later.)

Weekend at Home, Ahh!!!

It was so nice to spend the weekend at home with just the three of us!  We have been gone for the past 4 weekends so we really enjoyed some time to ourselves at home!  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining and have certainly enjoyed my last 4 weekends: beach, NYC, Davis' baptism and a quick trip to Lafayette for a baby shower and night out!  It's been fun but also nice to recharge at home too!

Friday night Chad and I had a little "date night" at home.  I cooked a delecious chicken scallopini with spinach and asparagus over linguine.  Then we watched the NY Yankees try to advance to the World Series but not such luck.

Saturday was a beautiful day so we went to the Wooden Boat Festival in Madisonville.  Our first stop was to Friends on the river to grab a bite to eat!  We had a perfect spot at a table on the water!  The cool breeze, cocktail, and one man band were perfect!  We walked around for a while and finally found a perfect spot under a big tree.  I brought a blanket and we all just relaxed and people watched!!! Ha!  Davis had a great time too!  People would stop by to see him and tell us how glad they were that we were enjoying ourselves!  How funny!  I guess we looked pretty relaxed too!

We came home to watch the LSU Tigers play but they lost too!
Sunday turned out to be a productive day!  We pressure washed the patio, the front porch and the walkway.  Next up is the drive way!! I made cuban sandwiches (Rachel Ray's recipe) and they were so yummy!  We were hoping the Saints would win but they didn't either.

Not a good weekend for our sports teams but a GREAT weekend with my family!!!!

A Few More Firsts

A few "firsts" have happended over that past 2 weeks:

** Davis "wet the bed" for the first time last Saturday.  It was so strange because when I picked him up, his back was wet and the sheet but the front was completely dry.?!??!?!  Not sure, but this happened when he was just born too.  Wet in the back ~  still baffles me.  Anyway, I was truly shocked for the bed wetting so soon.  Needless to say, we officially moved out of the size 1-2 diapers into the size 2!!! Much better :)

** Davis had his first little cold.  He had a clear runny nose, a few sneezes and a few coughs.  Luckily it wasn't anything too bad and it didn't seem to bother him.  His daddy, caught his cold and didn't handle it as well as Davis did!!  Ha!!!
Not much seems to bother Mr. Relaxer!!!!!

**  Davis doesn't like to keep socks on his feet.  I try to put them on but they only stay on for about 5 -10 minutes.  I'm trying to get him used to them since it's going to start getting cold and he'll be going to "school" (daycare) soon.  He actually wore a precious pair of socks the other day for almost the whole day!!!!!  I was so excited.  But, when I washed his clothes guess what happened?????  The Washing Machine ate one of the socks.  I don't get it but it happens.  I"m still searching but as of now Davis had his first case of the washing machine sock monster!

The Sock Monster stole this precious sock and few others too!!!I have quite a collection still waiting for a mate!  Believe it or not, sometimes I do find a long lost match. I'm hoping that happens with Davis' cute sock too!

Davis wiggling his socks off!

New Toys

Davis and his new toy  "Johnny Jump Up"   He loves sitting in this and spinning around.  It's hanging on
a door between the kitchen and the laundry room.  He seems to always be looking in the laundry room with wonder!  And it's clean ( I promise!!! I just organized it!)  Okay, I still have lots of clothes to iron but it's clean and oraganized for the most part!!! HA!

Davis got another new toy last week~~ a big fancy exersaucer.  It's great and he's learning how to play with it.  It has so much stuff to touch and spin.  It's nice for mom too while she's in the kitchen cooking. Speaking of cooking, I love to cook and have cooking alot to put things away in the freezer for when I get back to work.  I made chili, cabbage rolls and meatballs with PopPop's elk from last year.  We're trying to make room for the new one he killed just recently while in Colorado.  I've also been making food for Davis.  It's been fun and now he has a good stash of sweet potatoes, avocado, carrots, and apples in the freezer!

For our ULL friends!!! Go Cajuns!

I've been enjoying my time off with Davis!  We sure do have a good time playing, reading, laughing, sleeping, going for walks around the neighborhood, etc.  My time off  is coming to an end and I'm not ready to go back to work on November 1st.  I'm very sad about this but at least I"ll be off for a week at Thanksgiving and then again for Christmas!!!!  I know it will all work out.

Roll Baby Roll

Davis has been quite a ham lately!  He's such a happy baby! We are so blessed.  He smiles and giggles all of the time.  He likes to play on his tummy and does a great job of holding his head up and resting on his arms.  His new trick is rolling over.  When we put him down on his tummy, he'll play for a minute and then start pushing up his butt and working hard to roll over.  He sometimes has to try a few times before he successfully rolls over. We clap and cheer and make a big deal for him and he always gives us a big smile like he's proud of himself!  It's so cute.  Here's a little video of Davis in action.

We went to the park last Friday for a playgroup with some friends, the Parnells and the Bristers.  Davis relaxed on his blanket and enjoyed the fresh air.  Mommy enjoyed the outing and visiting with her friends too!  It was a beautiful day!

We went to Lafayette for the weekend.  I went to Allison Reaux's baby shower.  It was fun and then KK babysat Davis while Chad and I had dinner with friends!  We even went out for a little while after!  Lots of fun!  Thanks for babysitting KK!

Mallory left for 8th grade wilderness GLOBETREK trip to North Carolina for 10 days.  I know she is going to have a blast.  We can't wait for her to get back and tell us all about it!  Enjoy every minute of it Mal!

PopPop is in Colorado.   He is elk hunting with his friends!  Last year, he killed a 1,000 lb elk.  We've been eating lots of the ground elk.  It's very lean and  yummy.  Trying to make room in the freezer for more! :)  Have fun PopPop.  Be careful!

First Foods

Davis started eating rice cereal last week!  It was pretty funny to watch him try to eat it.  He wasn't too sure about it at first but is quickly getting the hang of it.

First taste of Rice Cereal

He really wanted his bottle!

Davis also tried avocados this week!  Tonight was the third time and 3 times is the magic number!  He did great tonight. He sat in his high chair for the first time.   I mixed the rice cereal and avocado together.  He seemed to enjoy it!  He's getting to be a big boy now.  He's growing so fast!  I am so in love and fascinated with him every singe day!

First taste of avocado
There was a lot on his bib but he did manage to get some of it in his mouth!

I love that his bib says "ready" and he looks like he's ready to go!!!  Too cute!

Second try.  Looking a little more excited!

Third time is a charm!
I think he likes it!

Davis' Baptism

This weekend was very special.  Davis and Finn were baptized at St. Mary's Church in Lafayette.  It was so neat because it was just the two of them and our big family!  My sister, Stephanie, is the godmother and Vince, Chad's best friend and my cousin Melanie's husband is the godfather!  We are so happy and blessed.
It was a beautiful ceremony, even when Davis started crying because he was hungry and I accidenally had left his bottle in the car.  Oops... but we got it and all was fine!  ;)  At least it was at the very end!

After the ceremony, the whole family went to Aunt Bonnie's for a little brunch and gathering!  It was a great day!  All of the kids pulled names for Christmas!  Davis was the first to pick!  Davis and Finn gots lots of special gifts and much love all day long. We also celebrated Mootzie's (Aunt Jamie's) birthday. It was a wonderful day.  (My camera battery died so I took pictures with KK's camera.  I'll upload pics as soon as I get them off of her camera.)

Another special thing about this weekend was that Chad's Uncle Vic came in from Connecticut.  He was so happy to meet Davis.  We came back to Mandeville when the party was over so we could spend some time with Grammy, Pop and Uncle Vic.  They loved spending time with Davis and watching him roll over!  We had a fabulous weekend!

Davis ~ 4 month checkup

Davis went to visit Dr. Richard today!  He had a good appointment and is doing well.  He weighs
14lbs. 15 oz. and is 25 1/2 inches long.  He's in the 50th percentile for his height and weight.  Dr. Richard said he on the right track!  He giggled and cooed the whole time, until it was time for his shots and then he screamed his little head off.  Poor baby but his camoflauge bandaids helped to ease the pain :)  Ha!

We will start Davis on rice cereal tomorrow and then on fruits and veggies in the next few weeks!  Should be some funny pics with that!!!!!!
I'm enjoying every minute of being home with him.  Only a few more weeks until I go back to work so I'm soaking it all in while I can!  He's rolling over from his tummy to his back and talking all of the time.  I love my little toodlebug!

New York

Chad and I had a great trip to New York!  We were there Wednesday through Sunday.  Lots of fun!  But we sure missed Davis.  He was a sweetie and my mom said he was an angel while they kept him. I'm so happy he was good and allowed us to get away for a bit.

Happy 35th birthday!  Leaving for New York....

Day 1 ~  Marci's birthday  Dinner at Mario Batli's Babbo Restuarant.  Delicious!  Beef cheek ravioli, fennel salad, homemade pasta with mushrooms/truffles and quail. Fabulous bottle of Italian wine!  We had no idea what we were getting because it was all Italian wines that we had not heard of..but the wine was great and we drank every last drop of it!  Then we found a cool little underground bar, The Wine Spot!  Great evening! We stayed at the Embassay Suites in the Financial District.

Day 2 ~  Chad had business and meetings all day, so I played around the World Financial Center. We were staying at the Embassay Suites in that area. I had a very nice relaxing day alone.  I shopped a bit, got a manicure and pedicure, went to a movie and had dinner at the Grille Room overlooking the Hudson River!

Day 3 ~ We moved to the Hampton Inn in Times Square when Chad was finished with his meetings, etc.
Great location on 51st and 8th so we were right by everything.  It rained a little but it didn't stop us from enjoying our day walking around Times Sqaure.  Our friends, Chris and Susanne Bentley live in Long Island but work in the city so they met us for dinner at Remi!  Good food, great company = fun time!

Day 4 ~ Enjoyed sleeping late and having lunch at Lombardi's Pizzaria!  The best pizza ever.  Then, Chad's uncle Vic took the train in from Connecticut and we spent the day with him.  Went to an Irish Pub and cruised around Times Square.  Chad and I went had dinner at a cool little diner then went to see Jersey Boys on Broadway!  Fabulous show ~ great music too!

Day 5 ~  Time to go home and boy are we ready to see our little man, Davis.  Our flight wasn't until 3:00 so we have some time to walk around.  We went to Central Park and The Plaza!  It was a beautiful day, no clouds and about 58 degrees!  Perfect!

We loved our trip to the city but were so happy to meet KK, PopPop and Davis at P.F. Changs for dinner when we returned.  It was our meeting spot to get Davis.  Chad and I literally ran into the restuarant and scooped up Davis.  I'm not even quite sure if we told my parents hello.  Ha!!!  Davis was happy to see us too!  A we got to see him roll over!
